This article is really helpful, for those who have read it they won’t spend much of their time searching for whatever they are searching on the internet. For me when I do my searching I type the term and also use the keyword with quotes. That is how get specific information I am searching for.

Hi Andy, I couldn't agree with you more.

Its gotten to the point for me that I'm totally lost if I can't go to Google for something I need right away.

Hard to even imagine where we go from here.

I love the Star Wars pic at the top of the post as well. Linking the old sci fi with the new

I completely agree with what has been said here. I just hope in the next 5 years I can still design websites for people without learning 10 new programming languages just to make it up to date with design and functionality.

Hi,,
Nice post I think web site development is very important to attract user or improving traffic on web-site. Web-site should be friendly using that can be easily understand by each type of person. Attractive designing can be helpful to attract the user.

I really don't see any need for W3C compliance and neither does about 90% of the W3C members. Pick almost any of the top 10 revenue generating websites and I bet they won't validate. Visit the website of almost any W3C member and I bet it won't validate.

I'm just going to add to that, given that I've browsed through the link from your article. PNG's don't work for ie6. Valid CSS can in many instances cripple a site, where pseudo markup (ie hover) can make all the difference. However, the rationale behind http is extremely logical and should the the mainstay for any site's map. The comment I made above relates directly to html and CSS, which I for one saw as the mainstay of w3c prior to reading the link.

Standards compliant? I don't know if w3c is really relevant on the web today. You talk of older browsers and cross compliance with them, but to be honest with you Google demographics shows few (less than 2 percent) using browsers older than ie6 or equivalent. In terms of validation, none of the sites I run will validate and all have errors on page, however, they all display correctly in Browsers (Opera, Safari, Firefox and ie6,7 & 8). Search Engines don't have problems crawling and understanding the sites and visitors certainly don't seem to be affected by the validation issues.

First and foremost, the user experience dictates the success/ failure of a website, as does marketing & search-ability, and I simply can't see a reason why, when graphical development programs can't comply with w3c, it should come very high up the list of objectives. In essence, if Microsoft can't adhere to open standards when developing a browser, how can we be expected to design a site that's going to?

Finally, with page speed becoming an ever more important key in the development of websites, user experience, time on site & bounce rates dictating content, I think w3c compliance will drop further down the list of priorities for developers.
